Sammy the Squirrel and Micky the Mouse adventure through Tanglewood Copse to their Rook friends home for a woodland party.
This story was written by the Grandad of Red Squirrel Resources founder Victoria Mew. It is a light hearted rhyming story perfect for 3-7 year olds.
Nicky Wilkie has lovingly illustrated the book bringing the woodland characters to life and bringing exquisite detail to the aspects of ecology included in the pictures. You can enjoy spotting the various birds, plants, nuts, berries, fungi and even animal tracks that can help aid children’s pattern recognition for identification of natural species.
It’s a short story with 24 pages in total in the book. The images throughout the story are full page and detail many identifiable species in nature from birds including the wren, robin, blue tit and kingfisher, to the squirrel and badger’s tracks. There is lots of possibility to learn about nature and it’s gifts from the pictures and there are even a couple of pages at the end of the book offering some facts about some of the species featured.
